Membership
The primary objective of the Vancouver Kendo Club is to promote the traditional Japanese martial art of Kendo where enthusiasts of all ages may together learn and practice the true spirit of Kendo.
Club Rules:
1. In order to maintain membership in good standing, a member must report any anticipated absence to a club official or sensei.
2. Etiquette and good manners are enforced to all member of the club.
3. The club assumes no liability for any injury sustained or loss which may occur during practice sessions, tournaments or other related activities.
4. The club reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership of any member who brings discredit to the club.
5. Any members who are registered in a club or dojo in other Provincial jurisdictions are required to report to club administrator prior to joining. Members must not be registered in any two clubs or dojos within BC at one time.
6. Dojo/club visits must be reported to club administrator or leading sensei prior to the visit, with adequate notice time for contacting. Members with less experience may be declined from visiting other clubs or dojos unless assessed otherwise.
Membership Fees:
Vancouver Kendo Club membership fees are non-refundable. Fees include membership into the Vancouver Kendo Club (VKC), Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF) and British Columbia Kendo Federation (BCKF). Fees will be used towards rental of practice facilities as all our instructors are volunteers and are not paid. The membership year begins in September and is valid until the end of August the following year.
Annual Membership Price: $410 per person** *
** New Members will pay a one-time fee of $150 (per member) on top of the membership fee on their first application.
* If you are subscribed to automatic annual payments to CKF, please provide proof of subscription (screenshot) to vancouverkendo@gmail.com. The membership fee shall then be reduced by $50.
Annual Schedule from September 19, 2023 to August 29, 2024 (tentative)
Thursdays: 8PM to 10PM (Open to all)
Fridays: 7PM to 10PM (7PM to 8PM – Kids & Beginners / Practice of Kata in open space. 8PM to 10PM – Open to all)
All members renew membership September 2025.
